For ten years, the VOG – the Federation of South Tyrolean Fruit Co-Operatives – has been marketing seven South Tyrolean varieties of apples of unparalleled quality under the brand-name Marlene®. Each individual fruit ripens in the area of cultivation most suitable for it. Special soil conditions, 300 days of sunshine a year, and pronounced day-night temperature fluctuations promote ideal color, aroma, flavor, and texture.

Royal Gala, Golden Delicious, Stayman Winesap, Granny Smith, Red Delicious, Fuji, Braeburn, Morgenduft, Jonagold, Idared, and Elstar are cultivated according to time-honored traditions and the stringent guidelines of the AGRIOS Group for Integrated Cultivation, Stringent Quality-Management Systems and in observance of various certifications – ISO 9001:2000, IFS, BRC, HACCP, EUREPGAP and, more recently, also Protected Designation of Origin. The strictest European quality levels are maintained, and each apple can be traced back from the market shelf to its orchard of origin. Consumers are thus guaranteed delicious-tasting produce – bite for bite.

Since 1945, VOG has guaranteed first-rate apple quality. It has grown to become Europe‘s biggest fruit marketing organization. The annual production of almost 550,000 tons of apples comes from 5,600 small family-run farms with an average of two hectares of land. For them, growing apples is both a tradition and a passion. About half of the production is marketed on the Italian market under the brand-name of Marlene®, while the other half is sold around the globe under the name „South Tyrolean Apples pgi“.
